Recipe of the day: 1960 Grillspieß

This is how you pronounce the dish: Grill-shpeeeees!

Let's try something from the past.

This turned out so delicious and so easy to make. Insanely easy.
Here's what you need:

  1. Skewers / Spieße
  2. Large pan / große Pfanne (or a grill if you like)
  3. Your choice of meat / Fleisch
  4. Onions / Zwiebeln
  5. Capsicum / Paprika
  6. Cooking Oil / Öl
  7. Ketchup
  8. Tomato purée / passierte Tomaten
  9. Salt / Salz
  10. Paprika powder / Paprikapulver

Here's what to do:
  1. Cut the meat, capsicum and onions into large cubes
  2. Skew everybody together (see 1st picture)
  3. Oil the pan, heat it up (medium heat)
  4. Fry the meat until nicely cooked and brown (take your time)
  5. Sprinkle some salt and paprika powder
  6. Pour in the tomato purée and ketchup just so everyone gets covered (see 3rd picture)
  7. Cook for a couple for minutes
  8. Serve alone, or with any sides you like. In my case I prepared Baguette and Beans. And if you want spicier than what pepper can offer, then some chili sauce would go with it just fine.

Skewed and cooking.

Nice and brown.

Tomato-puréed and ketchuped.

...with lots of love!

Guten Appetit!
